More dialects will be added as other dialect speaking volunteers contribute to the project. (To add/support a new dialect, a team of at least 2 to 3 volunteers, who speak that dialect have to come forward.)
This site's intention is to act as a means to document the konkani language via online collaboration.
Capturing the snapshot of a spoken language/dialect is essential for a dialect/language to survive in the long run. It was hence felt necessary that the spoken language be documented - before the words were
lost for ever. We believe that there are around 20,000 unique spoken words in the konkani vocabulary per dialect. This site will scientifically document these words, working towards its goals, one word at a time.
Please feel free to contribute konkani words to the dictionary by signing up as a volunteer. Email: b.v.baliga@savemylanguage.org or editor@savemylanguage.org
The Konkani Dictionary Project uses the devanagari script for its documentation.
